Eastbourne Eagles skipper Richard Andrews has been told he has broken the scaphoid bone in his wrist.

Andrews had initially been advised he only suffered soft tissue damage after a crash at Kent on Good Friday but a further scan has brought bad news.

Andrews joins No.1 Kyle Hughes (broken leg and ankle) on the sidelines for Eagles, who go to King's Lynn tonight.

Club director Connor Dugard, who is trying to rebuild the team, now has to find two new riders.

Dugard said: "It's a bitter blow. Every time I come close to completing the puzzle another spanner gets thrown in the works."

"To lose Kyle and now to lose Richard means I'm pretty stuck.”
