Eastbourne Eagles are inviting potential new fans to have a first look at speedway – for free.

Visitors will be able to see the 2016 Eagles take to the track in a practice session at Arlington Stadium tomorrow.

The new-look team are turning up for the start of action against Kent in a challenge fixture on Good Friday.

They will open the gates from 5.30pm so the public can see them go through their paces.

Club chairman Martin Dugard, a former British speedway GP winner, said: "We would like as many people in Sussex to come along and see what speedway is all about."

Speedway is raced on 500cc motor-cycles which do not have brakes.

Dugard added: "It is fast, furious, thrill-a-minute racing which has to be seen to be believed.

"That is why we are opening the stadium doors for free so people can see what the sport is all about.”

Fans will also be able to chat with the riders before they take to the track.

Dugard said: "Speedway at Eastbourne is really family friendly.

"Supporters can mix with the riders, get autographs or photographs.

"Speedway riders love to talk with the fans.

"It is a wonderful opportunity to see what speedway is all about ahead of our season-opener against Kent.”
