WORTHING’S superb run in the FA Trophy ended in dramatic fashion last night as they lost 3-2 at Sutton United after extra time in their second round replay.
The National League side – who host Leeds United in the FA Cup on Sunday – went 2-0 up against the Ryman premier underdogs with goals from Craig McAllister and Dean Beckwith.
But the Rebels stormed back with Sam Rents reducing the arrears in the 73rd-minute before Lloyd Dawes drilled home a penalty two minutes into stoppage time after joint-boss Gary Elphick was fouled in the area.
Rebels went in search of a winner in extra-time but Adam May’s 25-yard strike gave United the win on 102 minutes.
