Johanna Konta's run in the Aegon International is finally over.

The British No.1 from Eastbourne lost a gruelling semi-final against Karolina Pliskova in three sets at Devonshire Park.

World No. 18 Konta, seeded 11, was beaten 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 by her lanky Czech opponent, who is both seeded and ranked one place higher.

Again there was little to choose between them in a battle lasting 2hrs and 17 mins but Pliskova has now won all five of their meetings, including the last four in three sets.

The big-serving champion on grass at Nottingham earlier this month ruined Konta's attempt to reach her first final and to become the first British player to do so at Eastbourne since Virginia Wade in 1976.

Pliskova plays 12th seeded Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova in tomorrow's final.
