Chris Eubank Junior could fight triple world middleweight title holder Gennady Golovkin in September.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed discussions are at an advanced stage for the fight to happen as long as Brighton's Eubank Jr makes a successful first defence of his British middleweight title next Saturday.

Eubank Jr, 26, meets Tom Doran at the O2 and a victory could pave the way for a massive showdown in September against the 34-year-old who has a perfect 35-0 record.

Hearn said: "A win against Doran next week and that fight could be signed.

"When we signed Eubank they said go and get the Golovkin fight and that's what I have been doing.

"We are in deep negotiations with Tom Loeffler, we've given them a wonderful deal, and we are pretty much agreed.

"We have got to beat Doran and then, if everyone really wants that fight, it will get made."

Hearn believes the fight could fill a 40,000-seat venue in England and be a massive pay per view success.
