Johanna Konta has been selected for Team GB for the Rio Olympics.

The Eastbourne-based British No.1 was one of the four players announced today to represent Great Britain in the tennis in Brazil.

World number 18 Johanna Konta will make her Olympic debut at Rio.

Konta has enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2016 after she became the first British woman in 32 years to reach a Grand Slam semi-final after getting to the final four of the Australian Open.

Konta said: β€œIt's such an honour to have the rare opportunity to represent my country in an Olympic Games. I'm looking forward to doing my part for Team GB and supporting my teammates across all the sports.”

Andy Murray will look to retain his Olympic crown after being named along with Jamie Murray and Heather Watson.
