GB Boxing have told Chris Eubank Junior there is no place for him on the team for Rio 2016.
The Brighton fighter’s father Chris Eubank senior made an inquiry on behalf of the reigning British middleweight champion following confirmation by world governing body AIBA that professionals will be allowed at the Olympics.
GB Boxing confirmed the inquiry but have informed Eubank Jr there is no room in his division.
“We have explained to Eubank’s representatives that we already have Anthony Fowler qualified for Rio at middleweight after a long process,” said GB Boxing in a statement.
“We have accepted places for eight boxers already, including Fowler, and having done so we cannot send boxers in their weight divisions to any further qualification events.”
