ALBION’S double award-winner Anthony Knockaert insists he has nothing to prove in the Premier League.

The French winger’s top flight dream turned into a nightmare two seasons ago, when he made just nine appearances with Leicester.

Now Knockaert is itching to shine second time around with the promoted Seagulls.

The Championship and Albion’s player of the season told The Argus: “I didn’t enjoy it because I didn’t have the chance. After what I showed on the pitch for two years in the Championship with Leicester I think I deserved more of a chance than I had.

“I moved on and that’s why I am here now, because I knew of my quality and that I could get over it and be even better in the future.

“I am sure this club next year will give me the confidence to show what I can do in the Premier League. I am really excited and ready to go. I can’t wait for pre-season to start. I’ll enjoy my holiday but I’ll be so hungry to come back.

“I have nothing to prove. I know my quality. I don’t think I need to prove anything to anyone.

“All I need to prove is to be good next year and try everything to stay up with my club.”

Knockaert is determined to complete a title double with victory against Bristol City at the Amex on Saturday after winning the Championship with Leicester.

The 25-year-old, brought back to English football by the Seagulls from Standard Liege in Belgium 15 months ago, said: “We nearly did the job a few months after I came. We didn’t but now it’s even better, amazing.

“Now we have a big game on Saturday. Hopefully we can finish the job and get this title. That would be the icing on the cake.”
