Anthony Knockaert says the team spirit at Albion is better than when he was a Championship winner with Leicester.

The Seagulls’ French star helped Leicester romp to the title three seasons ago - but the unity in the dressing room at the Amex is on a different level.

Knockaert, hoping to celebrate his 100th league start in English football with victory at Ipswich tonight, told The Argus: “I don’t think in Leicester everyone loved everyone.

“Maybe some players didn’t like some others and they weren’t honest. They were pretending to like them but didn’t.

“Sometimes it’s like this in football, unfortunately. In every team it’s like this but not in ours.

“I think everyone really loves everyone. You don’t have anybody talking about someone else.

“That is what has made me so happy. Everyone is happy at Brighton. I’ve said a few times and I’ll say it again, the team spirit is something I’ve never seen anywhere else.

“It encourages me to give everything to them. It’s crazy to say sometimes that just team spirit can help you but it can. Every job is like this, if you feel good in your job you give everything. That is what happens with us.

“It’s unbelievable. Even the players who are on the bench are happy if they win in the same way as those that have played 90 minutes. That’s so nice to see.”

Albion turned down a multi-million pound bid from Newcastle for Knockaert during the transfer window.

He said: “As soon as the club told me ‘You are not going anywhere’, I was like ‘Okay, I’m not going anywhere’ and I will stay here and I’m quite happy. Nothing changes for me.

“Me and my family are very happy here. If I keep going I will be happy to be in the Premier League with my team-mates. I think we’ve got a really great chance this season and hopefully we’ll do it.”

Albion will be in the top two if they chalk up a fourth straight Championship win against injury-ravaged Ipswich, who are unbeaten at Portman Road in the league since the beginning of April.
