Boss Chris Hughton believes there is more to come from Albion after they moved up to third in the Championship with a third clean sheet win on the trot.

The 2-0 home victory over Barnsley was the most convincing performance of the season so far but Hughton believes there is room for improvement.

He told The Argus: “I’m really pleased. There are some really good moments.

“Anthony (Knockaert) is playing at a level that will cause any team in this division a problem at the moment but as a team we are probably not as fluent as the best periods of last season.

“We’d have probably been the same in the first half of last season, a few scrappy 1-0 wins, particularly away from home, but I hope there’s more to come from us.”

Hughton has to make at least one change at Ipswich tomorrow night, with left-back Gaetan Bong banned for his fifth booking against Barnsley for dissent.

Midfielder Beram Kayal is also a doubt after limping off at half-time with an ankle injury.

Ollie Norwood or Steve Sidwell could replace the Israeli, while Seb Pocognoli is the obvious replacement for Bong, although the loan signing from West Brom remains short of match fitness.

That is a concern for Hughton, who criticised Bong’s lack of discipline.

He said: “It is a disappointment, because it’s a booking for dissent which makes it even more frustrating, but that’s what the squad is for.

“I’ve got to make a decision now on what I do in that position. They are certainly not easy decisions, working around the situation.

“I’ve got a fair bit of thinking to do.”
