Eastbourne Borough continued thier mini revival in National League South last Saturday afternoon as they beat Bath City 5-2 thanks to a brace from Nathaniel Pinney, two from Jack Evans and late header from Ian Simpemba.

The Sports are unbeaten in their last three games in all competitions and have scored 11 goals and only conceded three.

On the horizon now is three tough away games at Gosport Borough, Concord Rangers and Hayes & Yeading, but with the upturn in results Borough will be confident of picking up some points.

Borough’s manager Tommy Widdrington was pleased with his sides attacking play, saying: “It’s been a good week for us we’ve scored 11 goals in three games and we’ve only conceded three so that’s a good starting point for the second-half of the season.”

Widdrington’s side started the season well, but over Christmas they had a poor run which included damaging defeats to the likes of Basingstoke and Maidstone.

But now it looks like their recent slump is behind them, and staying in the division is looking likelier with each passing game; and being in the semi-final of the Sussex Senior Cup where they will play either Bognor Regis or Burgess Hill Town there is still plenty to play for.

“The start of the second-half of the season has gone really well for us, as did the first part of the first-half of season, now what we have got to try and do is get a consistency that we haven’t managed to have in the league,” said Widdrington.

The arrival of club hero Jamie Taylor further boosted the young squad last week; Taylor has arrived on loan from Margate.

He had two spells for Borough where he amassed 39 goals, and Widdrington has labelled him as one of the ‘best strikers in the division’.

And his performance on Saturday showed just what a crucial asset Taylor could be for Borough in the second-half of the season.

Widdrington said: “His movement was fantastic, straight away you can see the start of a partnership, because Nat is a very intelligent lad, and an intelligent footballer, and if he’s got someone alongside as intelligent they’re going to be a handful.”

Next up for Borough is the first of their three away games as they take to trip to a tough looking Gosport side.
