THE AWE-inspiring chalk cliffs of Sussex are among the 20 best views in Britain, a new survey has revealed.

Views of the Seven Sisters have been named 18th in the list of stunning scenic spots around the UK according to a poll of 2,500 people commissioned by Samsung.

The view from the summit of Snowdon in Wales was named the best followed by the scenery of the Glenn Coe Valley in Scotland and Stonehenge in Wiltshire.

In a list dominated by natural sights, the view of the House of Commons from Westminster Bridge is a rare urban entry.

Cheddar Gorge in Somerset, St Ives Bay in Cornwall and Loch Ness in Scotland also featured in the list.

The Seven Sisters, pictured, was formed more than 80 million years ago in the late Cretaceous era and rises to 156 metres at its tallest point at Beachy Head.

East Sussex County Council recently came under fire for exploring the possibility of passing on ownership or management of the beauty spot in a move to save around £100,000 over two years.
