Brighton’s Green MP Caroline Lucas has spoken exclusively to The Argus as she prepares to leave the corridors of Westminster.

Ms Lucas, who represents Brighton Pavilion, remains the country’s only Green MP since she was first elected in 2010.

In the interview, she spoke about the city’s poor recycling rates, her decision to stand down at the next general election and her disappointment at the leadership of the Labour Party.

The first story from this in-depth interview has been published, where Ms Lucas looks back at her historic win 13 years ago.

That will be followed by a series of articles this week in which Ms Lucas expresses her regret at the lack of action on the climate emergency since she was first elected and is asked whether she would accept a place in the House of Lords.

Some of these follow-up articles will be exclusives for digital subscribers.
