Part of the Royal Albion Hotel collapsed inward overnight, according to a witness at the scene.
The witness described a “loud noise” that “everybody heard” at around 2.30am this morning at the scene in Brighton.
Jack Page was live streaming the fire overnight on social media and said there were several fire outbreaks but these stopped by around 4.30am.
It has been around 39 hours since the start of the devastating fire which has gutted the entire west section of hotel.
Crews have been inspecting the roof of the Royal Albion Hotel’s west wing this morning and dousing the second floor of the building.
Mr Page told The Argus: “There was a loud noise this morning at about 2.30am. A lot of something came down inside the building, I don’t know what and couldn’t see it but everybody heard it.
“I saw some flames coming from the third floor up in the corner. There were several outbreaks.
“They tackled that but it came back alight. The wind was blowing it.
“They’re watering and dousing the outside of the building to keep the flames from the outside of the building and keep it contained I think.
“The fire on the third floor it was at its biggest but there hasn’t been any flames since about 4.30am.”
A demolition company is due to be at the hotel this morning from 8.30am.
It is tasked with dismantling the façade of the building so firefighters can safely gain access to the burning remains.
