Noel Gallagher is set to take to the stage in Brighton this summer.

The Oasis star is the latest artist announced to headline the On The Beach festival in July.

He will be joined by his band, the High Flying Birds, when he closes the event.

The singer-songwriter will also be supported by The Vaccines, The Coral and former Brighton resident Gaz Coombes during the last day of the festival.

The beachfront event will run over two weekends between July 21 and 23, and July 28 to 30.

This news comes after a teaser was posted on the festival's social media platforms last Friday, leading to speculation among fans that Gallagher would be performing.

Last year's line-up featured DJs from Brighton's own Fatboy Slim to drum and bass pioneer Andy C. This year the festival will have an eclectic mix of music over its two weekends.

Noel will join headliners from across a range of genres, including Brighton rock band Royal Blood on July 29 and Swedish DJ Eric Prydz on July 23.

Carl Cox will headline on July 22. The main acts for day one and day four have yet to be announced.

A spokesman for On The Beach said: "Brit legend Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds will be closing On The Beach on Sunday 30th July.

"We can’t wait to welcome Noel."

Presale tickets will be available from the On The Beach website from Thursday at 10am. General sale will be available from 10am on Friday.
