Heading to the Hastings Jack in the Green May Day festival? It's an annual event that takes place in various parts of Hastings.

It started this morning and will conclude on Monday. It includes music of all genres from some of the best local bands.

The main event is on Monday with the Jack in the Green parade itself.

There will be a craft fair, food stalls and refreshments.

HASTINGS FISHERMEN’S MUSEUM 10am-5pm Free, but donations appreciated

A museum for all the family, the fisherman’s museum is dedicated to the fishing industry and maritime history of Hastings, a seaside town in East Sussex, England. It is housed in a former church, officially known as St Nicholas' Church and locally as The Fishermen's Church, which served the town's fishing community for nearly 100 years from 1854.

SHIPWRECK MUSEUM, HASTINGS 10am-5pm Free, but donations appreciated

Featuring exhibits of fossils found in the local area, the Shipwreck Museum in Hastings also has artifacts from many ships wrecked in the English Channel from the Goodwin Sands in Kent to Pevensey Bay in East Sussex, including the Amsterdam, a Dutch East Indiaman of 1749, and the Anne of 1690, a warship of Charles II.

HASTINGS MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY 10am-5pm Free, but donations appreciated

The current exhibition ‘George Graham: the Creation Paintings’ running until May,7 shows a series of paintings on the theme of the Creation came after a lifetime devoted to landscape. Painted in the 1930s and 40s, this unique group of works is a remarkable pre-figuring of the space age, and belong to the imaginative world of Blake and Vaughan.

HASTINGS CASTLE 10am-4pm £4.75 adult, £3.95 child

The Hastings Castle ruins are the remains of a stone fortress built after William of Normandy's coronation, which was practically impregnable from three sides. Less than half of the original structure remains.

HASTINGS COUNTRY PARK Open all year Free, but donations appreciated Sandstone cliffs, glens covered with gorse and trees, footpaths, nature trails, picnic areas and ample car parking are some of the features at the country park. Set in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, most of the park has been designated a Special Area of Conservation. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest called Hastings Cliffs to Pett Beach and a Local Nature Reserve as Hastings Country Park & Fairlight Place Farm.

HASTINGS PIER 10am-6pm Free, but donations appreciated

After being named National Piers Society’s, Pier of the Year 2017 it’s certainly worth a visit. The newly re-constructed leisure pier is great for all the family, with various attractions including Hastings Bank Holiday Monday Classic Scooter & Motorcycle display accompanied by two live bands and DJ sets.

WHITE ROCK THEATRE, HASTINGS

With many shows currently on the WRT stage, including The Little Mermaid, running at 11am and 2pm on Saturday tickets are £15, with under16s tickets £13. Tropicana – Ultimate 80s Night from 8.30 Saturday night, costing £8 per ticket. Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story running Tuesday, May, 2nd – Saturday, May, 6th with prices varying. Tue-Thur and Sat matinee £27-29, Fri-Sat eve £28-30. Under 18s £16.50 excl Fri-Sat eve.

THE TRUE CRIME MUSEUM, HASTINGS 10AM-5PM 10AM-5PM £7.50 ADULT, £5.50 CHILD

The largest collection of crime memorabilia in the UK, info on serial killers, forensics, riots and robberies, prison weapons and firearms, unsolved crimes, a shocking new attraction for everybody fascinated by the dark world of crime.

Leisurely trip, providing access to Hastings Castle and St Clement's Caves from George Street, on the town's sea front. The West Hill overlooks the sea to the south, the Old Town to the east, and the current central business district of Hastings to the west.

HASTINGS HISTORY HOUSE Thursday-Sunday, 11am-4pm Free, but donations appreciated

This weekend sees the start of the Old Town Walks programme starting with a Stade Guided Walk on Saturday and Sunday, meeting at 11am at the Fishermen's Museum and explore the Stade Fishing Quarter of the Old Town.

ALEXANDRA PARK, HASTINGS Open all year, dawn till dusk

The park features several small water reservoirs that provide popular locations for leisure fishing within the town, with a variety of wildlife, including grey squirrels, Canada geese and mallard ducks as well as an array of different bird life. The squirrels and other animals are all used to human contact and the café has dried food that you can purchase to feed them. The lower area of the park has several public facilities including a lake, war memorial, bowls green, information point, toilets, café, events areas, bandstand and adventure playground. There is a water thoroughfare all around the park linking the reservoirs.
