LARGE numbers turned out for traditional services at one church over Easter.

St Thomas a Becket in the Cliffe in Lewes uses only the old Book of Common Prayer and it proved immensely popular, attracting the largest Easter morning congregation many could remember.

The Cliffe High Street church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion, adorned with seasonal flowers and foliage by members of the Flower Team.

“The whole effect was uplifting as we celebrated the joyous Easter morn,” said churchwarden Trevor Butler. “We are extremely blessed to have so many talented people who give their time to decorate the church for major festivals.”

Visitors said how much they enjoyed witnessing the floral displays.

One group from France said they planned a quick visit but ended up at the church for over an hour to admire all the flowers.
