A CHARITY which supports the LGBT community in Eastbourne is welcoming everyone to its first AGM on Saturday, April 22.

Bourne Out was started in February 2016 by Betty Gallacher, better known as Scotty.

The aim of the group is to support and bring together people from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities in and around Eastbourne.

Betty said: “It has been a very successful first 12 months and I am delighted with the progress we have made.

“I have been an activist and supporter of LGBT issues for many, many years and I have always set out to help people.

“And that is what we strive to do in Eastbourne. There are still far too many people unable to fully come out as being their true self and that is a great pity.

“Of course society is much more accepting these days – and so it should be – but there is still some way to go.”

The AGM is being held in Eastbourne Town Hall from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.
