LEWES Football Club have teamed up with Comedy Beats to put together a night of comedy in aid of the club’s 12th Man scheme, developed for fans to help the non-league outfit’s team playing budget.

The show is on Tuesday, March 28. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.

Mark Coxon from Comedy Beats said: “We were set up about 18 months ago to bring outstanding stand-up shows to various venues in the South East of England.

“I have worked using the stage name Windsor on the comedy circuit for the last 20 years and I wanted to get gigs going on in venues where they may not normally happen.

“This is our first show working with Lewes FC and it looks like it’s going to be a great night.

“I got a call from Kevin Miller at the football club and went down to have a chat with him.

“We both agreed that the club house would be too small to do the gig there so Kevin arranged for us to use The All Saints Centre in Lewes.”

Hosting the evening is Dan Evans and the first act is Michael Legge followed by Pierre Hollins.

Mr Coxon said: “I like having Michael on the bill especially early on.

“Like Dan he is at his best when communicating with the audience.

“I really wanted to get Pierre on this show for a number of reasons.

“I remember going to Jongleurs Battersea in the Eighties and watching him, long before I started doing stand up myself, and thinking this guy is great.

“He was then and he still is now.”

Closing the show is Bob Mills.

BBC 5Live and Talksport listeners will know him from his co-hosting role on Friday and Saturday mornings.

Kevin Miller, CEO of Lewes FC, said: “I’d like to thank Mark Coxon at Comedy Beats for working so hard to get such a superb line-up together, Paul Ollerton and the team at ViiSana for sponsoring the event and to David Arnold and all at the Supporters Club for putting the team together to run the bar and raffle on the night.

“It’s a bit of a coup for us, it’s for a brilliant cause and I hope that Rooks fans and owners sell the place out and make it a fantastic night.”

There will be a licensed bar and tickets are available online at comedybeats.com and in advance from Lewes FC office and at home matches priced £9.
