THE air ambulance has been called to to a serious three vehicle accident on the A27.
Emergency services were alerted at around 3,20pm to the crash on the A27 westbound on the Pevensey bypass near the junction of the A22.
Sussex Police officers have closed the road in both directions and a diversion is in place.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews from Eastbourne and the retained crew from Pevensey to the scene.
Firefighters are currently helping to free two people who are reported to be trapped.
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance are also in attendance.
